Camp Live Oak’s Theater & Fine Arts Program
is a fun-filled fine arts experience where campers will be immersed in the Essentials of the Arts in air conditioned studio conveniently located in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale! Campers are grouped by age so that all activities are age appropriate and each age group will rotate through different activities throughout the day: Art, Theatre, and Puppets! Your children will create individual and collaborative visual art projects while learning the crafts of acting and puppetry under the direction of professional artists. We provide a nurturing environment where they will improve their current artistic talents and learn new skills with supportive new friends.

During their 5 weeks at camp, your child will design, craft and perform all aspects of a production - an all new version of "Alice in Wonderland"! Each of the campers will succeed and enjoy unparalleled time and attention from our talented staff while they create, play characters, construct props, design scenes and paint drops – all the essentials of a terrific production! Campers will develop a complete understanding of how the collaborative process can create something fantastic while working with our expert staff.

PUPPET & MASK ARTS

We are the only camp in Florida with a full Puppet & Mask Theatre Program. Starting with Ancient traditions of Object Theatre and Mask, campers will explore the design and movement arts of our ancestors. Then we will “leap around the planet” to build and perform Indonesian Shadows, Japanese Bunraku, and English Punch. After this experience, children will see their world differently - a place where everything can become a puppet.

Puppetry is an art form that incorporates many of the multiple intelligences -- it impacts virtually all types of learners. The process of creating a puppet performance involves social skills such as teamwork, compromise and problem solving. The end result, the performance, not only educates the audience, but is also a valuable assessment tool in itself.
