International Applicants

Although we encourage international applicants, it is important to note that we do not have on or off site sleeping quarters to house international staff. Many times, applicants will have prior living arrangements set up or acquaintances which they can live with during their time at camp.

Winter: December 24 – January 4, 2018

Program Director

The Program Director will be responsible for all facets of School, After School, and Saturday Scholar programming. He/she will be accountable for the administration of the department, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision. He/she will work in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director of Summer Camp.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College/University required; preferably in Education, Outdoor Education, Recreation or a related field.
  • Three to five years of related professional experience. Must have a strong knowledge in the areas of general sciences, STEM, and environmental science with a firm grasp of Florida ecosystem.
  • This role requires experience with curriculum development for ages 5 – 16, scheduling programs, hiring and training staff.
  • Able to relate and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience and curriculum development, managing summer or school programs.

Job Duties

  • Responsible for the development curriculum and successful implementation of school year, after school, weekend Scholars program, and Specialty User groups.
  • Assists with marketing of school year programming.
  • Assists with the hiring process of Outdoor Education staff, seasonal and part-time.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of special events and other specialty camps through the year.
  • Assists Executive Camp Director with group scheduling, staffing, programming, equipment preparation, and program budget accountability.
  • Assists with Annual Support Campaign to reach designated goal which allows more campers to experience camp.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Hours and Salary: Part time position (with a potential of being a full time position); Beginning immediately. 25 – 30 per week. Must be able to work some weekends and evenings. Pay: $18 an hour

Head Counselor at Birch State Park and Dania Beach

Winter Camp Sessions and Teacher Workdays

We are looking for Certified Teachers, Substitutes, Outdoor Educators, or former Camp people that have the energy and excitement to participate and guide children through activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, science, and arts and crafts at the beautiful Birch State Park in Ft. Lauderdale. Applicants will be working outside, rain or shine, so a positive attitude and a love of the outdoors is a MUST.

We are looking for nature enthusiasts, hard working, team players that love teaching children about the world around them. Applicants MUST be flexible and willing to help in a variety of areas and a willingness to learn! Self motivated individuals with excellent communication skills is a MUST!
Counselor position is part time and only a couple of days per month (usually on Broward County School teacher workdays). Position could lead to additional camp contracts which include our Winter, Spring, and Summer Sessions.

Requirements:

MUST have experience TEACHING children. This position requires a upbeat, energetic individual who has a passion for the environment! He/she must be able to develop, coordinate, and implement age appropriate curriculum for children ages 5 -13.

Must be comfortable working in an challenging outdoor setting. Must work with a SMILE rain or shine!

Must be able to work entire winter camp season

Jr. Counselor for Ft. Lauderdale and Dania Beach locations.

Teacher Workdays and Winter Camp

Requirements: Must be 17 years or older to apply for the Jr. counselor position. Looking for fun and energetic individuals that have experience and a passion for working with children in an outdoor setting. Jr. Counselors will be working alongside certified teachers in guiding children through camp activities such as canoeing, archery, and fishing, arts and crafts, and science. This position requires a upbeat, energetic individual who is willing to be part of a dynamic team and must be comfortable working in an challenging outdoor setting during hot and humid summer months

Must be able to work entire winter camp session. Work opportunities available for Teacher workdays (Broward county school days off).
