International Applicants

Although we encourage international applicants, it is important to note that we do not have on or off site sleeping quarters to house international staff. Many times, applicants will have prior living arrangements set up or acquaintances which they can live with during their time at camp.

Arts & Crafts Teacher (Ft. Lauderdale)

Arts and Crafts Teacher Needed for Environmental Day Camp in Fort Lauderdale at Birch State Park.  We are looking for an independent-working, organized, and creative Art & Crafts Teacher to work with children ages 5 to 13 in an outdoor camp setting. He/she must be able to develop, coordinate, and implement age appropriate projects, with a strong focus on recycled and nature related arts. A passion for the environment and the outdoor is a MUST!  Camp Live Oak, the only ACA accredited camp in Broward County and has been offering award-winning, educational outdoor programs for over 30 years in two local state parks.

There is a budget for materials and the coordinator will be responsible for maintaining supply inventory and budget invoices. End of the summer budget and itemized expense list will need to be submitted. An outline of all projects is required prior to the start of camp.

Candidate must have a positive attitude, be enthusiast, and be a team player. He/She must also be flexible and experienced with working with children ages 5 – 13 in the arts. They MUST be comfortable working in an outdoor setting with a SMILE!

Pay Rate:$14/hour
Location: Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale

Hours: part time to full time; plus paid planning time before camp begins

Requirements:
– MUST have experience TEACHING art to children. Sample of previous works a plus.
– Must be comfortable working in an outdoor setting during summer months. It will be hot and humid!

– Must be able to work entire summer camp season: June 10th – Aug 13th

Salary: $14.00 to $14.50 /hour

Lifeguards Birch State Park and Dania Beach

Must hold a Lifeguard Certification from a nationally recognized organization. Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to work Monday-Friday beginning June 10 to August 13th. All applicants are required to demonstrate lifesaving skills prior to employment. References required.

Head Lifeguard will be in charge of setting up the waterfront areas (Beach at Fort Lauderdale or Beach and creek at Dania) and maintain order throughout camp swim times. They will need to assess swimming abilities of all campers ages 5 – 16, and be responsible equipment used during this time, such as surfboards, paddle boards, and more.

Expected schedule is 8:30 – 1:00 pm, Monday – Friday, though hours may increase due to enrollment. Lifeguards will also be asked to assist Canoe, Archery, and Fishing instructor in daily set up of the camp.

For over 30 years, Camp Live Oak has been a day camp working in a cooperation with Florida’s State Park System to provide an environmental experience. We offer a unique opportunity for kids to experience the wonder and joy of curiosity, discovery and new knowledge in regards to nature in general and unique ecosystems in the State Parks where we are located. Canoe/Archery/Fishing Leads (Birch State Park and Dania Beach)

Must be at least 25 years old. Must be an avid and experienced outdoors person with extensive knowledge in canoeing and fishing. Archery experience is preferred but not necessary. Applicant, if hired, will be required to attend a Level 1 training session for both Canoeing and Archery. He/She will receive a level 1 instructor certification. Must be in excellent physical shape and able to lift heavy items. Must be able to handle working outside in the hot and humid So. Florida weather, all while maintaining a positive attitude. Must have experience working and instructing children ages 5 – 13, prior camp experience is a PLUS! Must be able to maintain accurate inventory, perform light maintenance on program equipment and keep track of program expenses and receipts. Must be able to work entire summer session (June 10th – August 13th).

Head Counselor and Subs at Birch State Park and Dania Beach

We are looking for Certified Teachers, Substitutes, Outdoor Educators, or former Camp people that have the energy and excitement to participate and guide children through activities such as canoeing, fishing, archery, science, and arts and crafts at the beautiful Birch State Park in Ft. Lauderdale. Applicants will be working outside, rain or shine, so a positive attitude and a love of the outdoors is a MUST.

We are looking for nature enthusiasts, hard working, team players that love teaching children about the world around them. Applicants MUST be flexible and willing to help in a variety of areas and a willingness to learn! Self motivated individuals with excellent communication skills is a MUST!
Counselor position begins June 10 – August 13, Monday – Friday from 8:30 – 4:00 pm.  Must be able to work full summer contract.

Requirements:

MUST have experience TEACHING children. This position requires a upbeat, energetic individual who has a passion for the environment! He/she must be able to develop, coordinate, and implement age appropriate curriculum for children ages 5 -13.

Must be comfortable working in an challenging outdoor setting. Must work with a SMILE rain or shine!

Must be able to work entire winter camp season

Jr. Counselor for Ft. Lauderdale and Dania Beach locations.

Summer Session June 10 – August 13

Requirements: Must be 17 years or older to apply for the Jr. counselor position. Looking for fun and energetic individuals that have experience and a passion for working with children in an outdoor setting. Jr. Counselors will be working alongside certified teachers in guiding children through camp activities such as canoeing, archery, and fishing, arts and crafts, and science. This position requires a upbeat, energetic individual who is willing to be part of a dynamic team and must be comfortable working in an challenging outdoor setting during hot and humid summer months

Must be able to work entire summer camp session June 10 – August 13, Monday – Friday from 8:30 – 4:00 pm.
