Five Summer Activities for the Whole Family

As the school year ends and summer officially arrives, the excitement of festivities begins. After an overwhelming year for both kids and parents, fill the summer days with memorable activities for everyone to enjoy. Whether your summer is generally loud or quiet, embrace the time ahead by trying something new or more adventurous for the whole family to enjoy.

Go Camping

A camping trip always results in a memorable experience for everyone. There is nothing better than picking a new or favorite camping spot to enjoy with your family. Whether you chose to camp for a few days or longer, there are many activities to consider when camping. While camping, you can also plan other family activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, and more. When it comes to camping, there is never anything you cannot do in the outdoors. Snuggle your family up for some s’mores at the end of the night and create your favorite summer memory. If going camping is not feasible, consider backyard camping. This is a simple and fun way to camp without actually having to leave your home. Your kids will love the change of scenery and trying something new.

Go to the Beach

Taking a day to head down to the beach can be memorable. Oftentimes, we can live close to the beach but never go. Planning a beach day with your family can lead to laughter and fun in the sun. All you need is an umbrella, beach chairs, snacks, towels, sunscreen, and sand toys. Parents can lay out under the sun while they watch their kids play in the ocean. Perhaps bring a volleyball or frisbee and enjoy a playful game.

Go on a Picnic

Nothing can beat a picnic at the park or the beach on a summer day. Pack a basket filled with your family’s favorite food and beverages. A picnic is a nice and simple way to enjoy the outdoors, especially if you are used to staying inside all day. The best part about picnics is they can be easily done any time of the week. Consider making a designated day of the week a family picnic day. This can lead to your family having something to look forward to throughout the week or weekend.

Water Balloon Fight

Getting a bit soaked during a hot day is a great way to keep cool in the summer. Filling a few water balloons while also laying out additional water toys in your backyard can result in your very own intimate water park. Enjoy some laughs with your family as you run around your yard seeing who can get the wettest. This is guaranteed to lead to laughter and fun for the family to enjoy.

Outdoor Movie Nights

It is common for most families to have designated days for movie nights indoors, but why not bring them outdoors? Hosting an outdoor movie is a change of scenery for your kids and can lead to excitement. All you need is a mini projector and projector screen to get started. Place out a few blankets and pillows on the grass and get comfy. If you would like extra comfort, blow up your stored inflatable mattress. To turn your backyard into the ultimate movie experience, pop some popcorn, grab candy, and warm-up a pizza. The best thing about outdoor movies is you can do them anytime during summer. Instead of watching a movie indoors on Friday or Saturday nights, make outdoors a summer habit. A great part of watching an outdoor movie in your yard is being able to look up and enjoy the night sky too.

This has been the first camp ever that my son didn’t complain about going in the morning, but he did tell me about the friends he made and the things he did. We love this camp!
