Aquatic Activities
Located inside beautiful Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, our aquatic program combines adventure, skill-building, and environmental education, giving campers the opportunity to explore South Florida’s waterways in fun and meaningful ways. Whether learning to paddle, cast a line, or swim in the ocean, campers build confidence, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors .. all under the careful supervision of trained Camp Live Oak staff.
Paddle Boarding: Campers learn proper paddleboarding techniques while building balance, coordination, and core strength in our protected lagoon and in the ocean when conditions allow.
Fishing: Campers receive hands-on instruction in casting, knot-tying, safety, and conservation, with opportunities to catch a variety of local fish species.
Canoeing and Kayaking: Guided sessions teach paddling skills and water safety while campers explore scenic waterways and observe local wildlife within and around the park.
Swimming: Campers swim in the Atlantic Ocean daily in small, supervised groups of no more than 25 children, supported by Fort Lauderdale lifeguards and Camp Live Oak staff to ensure a safe and confidence-building experience.
Land-Based Activities
Our land-based program is designed to spark a love of nature, build confidence, and keep campers active, curious, and engaged all day long. From exploring South Florida’s unique ecosystems to creating art and learning new skills, every activity blends fun with meaningful learning and personal growth.
Science Experiments: Hands-on projects introduce campers to archaeology, marine biology, and environmental science. Through discovery and experimentation, campers build curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a sense of environmental stewardship.
Team Sports: Non-competitive games such as kickball, flag tag, and soccer promote teamwork, cooperation, and healthy physical activity in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Hiking: Guided hikes through South Florida’s diverse ecosystems help campers discover native plants and wildlife while developing a deeper connection to the natural world.
Archery: Led by certified instructors, campers learn the fundamentals of archery with a strong emphasis on safety, focus, and skill development..while having a blast hitting the target.
Arts and Crafts: Creative projects using a variety of materials inspire imagination, self-expression, and confidence as campers bring their ideas to life.
Enhanced Experiences
