Outdoor Adventures for the Fall

The air is growing colder, the wind is picking up, and your instincts are telling you that it’s time to stay indoors. Don’t do it. Fall is the best time of year to get outside and breathe in the fresh air before the cold of winter numbs your fingers. It is a wonderful time to marvel at the fall scenery and create lifelong memories. Here’s a list of fun autumn activities to do with your family and friends.

Going for a Hike

One of the best things about autumn is that you can go hiking at any time of day. This includes going hiking during the middle of the day, which is too hot for most people during the summer. Hiking in the fall is particularly enjoyable since you may go at any time of day without being suffocated by humidity or scorched by the midday sun. When going out, be sure to dress warmly. The hikes may start cool, but as you go, you will rapidly warm up.

Apple Picking

Sure, we can obtain apples from the grocery store all year, but there’s nothing like orchard-fresh apples picked right off the tree during harvest season. This time of year, the crunchy, acidic, sweet apple flavor is at its optimum. You can pick your own fruit at many commercial orchards. It’s not only entertaining, but it’s also an excellent method to teach children about the origins of their food. Extras can be used to make applesauce or pies.

Collect Fall Leaves

The changing colors of the leaves often result in a tremendous mess in your yard. Raking the leaves into a pile to be disposed of can be an enjoyable family or friend activity. If you decide to jump into the leaf pile, ensure sure there are no sharp objects, such as sticks or pebbles, that could cause injury. This pastime is very enjoyable for young children. Children can assist with smaller rakes designed just for them. Don’t forget to wear gloves to prevent blisters on your hands.

White Water Rafting

Because the river levels are variable, the fall season is one of the best seasons to go white water rafting. You may encounter anything from a leisurely float down the river to class III and IV rapids throughout your autumn trip, adding to the thrill of your white-water rafting journey because you never know what to expect! While you never know what to expect in terms of water levels, you can always count on having a good time no matter what Mother Nature has in store.

Have a Bonfire

On a chilly and beautiful fall night, a bonfire is the ideal gathering spot. This is a fun way for family and friends to come together and socialize during the fall season. There is plenty of fun to be had once everyone has gotten their fill of food. From sing-along campfire tunes to fun field activities, there’s something for everyone. A feel-good playlist and outdoor speakers can also help to establish the tone. If there is enough room, individuals are also encouraged to dance around.

This has been the first camp ever that my son didn’t complain about going in the morning, but he did tell me about the friends he made and the things he did. We love this camp!
